Background

The war was brief and bloody, what started out as a naval skirmish in the Pacific Ocean over an oil rig quickly escalated into a nuclear war when a US fleet was bombed, people responded by launching their arsenals out of fear that their countries would be next. What’s ironic is no one knows who launched the first missile, in the end over 50 nukes were launched and hit the world at different points in the world and the end was so brief and bright that no one remembers how exactly it happened. For it’s first time in millennia the world was light only by fire and those that survived huddle in caves and underground shelters to stave off the effects of radiation and what ever else would come from the seemingly hellish environment outside of their shelters. The first humans to begin rebuilding did it right outside their shelters so that they didn’t have to travel far, these were small groupings of 50 or so people who desired to see the sun again. Most of them had forgotten how the war started and what it was like before the end, hell most forgot the names of the places they were in.

The survivors were greeted by a blasted wasteland with mutated creatures wandering about attempting to scratch out a living. Soon the relearned skills needed and were able to build small communities that traded with other communities near them; it was a surprisingly large amount of cooperation. That is until the humans had a reason to fear things again, from a strange rift that opened in the middle of the Pacific Ocean an armada of hellish proportions poured from hell and an invasion force was prepared. The humans rallied to defend themselves as trade partners disappeared, fingers were pointed and people were blamed for the appearance of these monsters and all trade and cooperation soon ground to a halt. Communities built walls and manned them with salvaged guns and one apparently had managed to find some heavy weapons in the form of mounted machine guns and even a few artillery weapons salvaged from army bases. The first battles of the war were fierce but the demons refused to take anything, they killed and exterminated, they seemed to be waiting before they made good on their promises to enslave and torture the people within their makeshift walls. The end of the demon wars came a surprise as the demon gate in the ocean suddenly closed before anything truly evil could come forth. It left the demons without a central leader and they broke down to fighting amongst each other and only rarely fighting humans. The damage was already done though, settlements were wiped out and the survivors did not want to open up trade with their old partners and instead sought different partners for trade or ways to make themselves self sufficient.

After the demon wars it took a few years but larger settlements began to grow, examples being New Richmond, The Quantico Base, Lost Angels, The Capital, The Alamo, Wales, Ili De France, The Pyramids, Muscovy, and Nova Roma. From these centers of growth would spring up different groups trying to survive in the wasteland, some would be crushed under Malra tribal raids others would go on to create fledgling nations. The world seemed a bit brighter these days the Synth reemerged in north America and parts of Europe going on to form cities that were hard at work researching new and old technology that they salvaged from around the world, While the Malra emerged from the corners of the wilderness they were hiding in to trade with the Human settlements for things they wouldn’t normally find near them, other would go on to launch raids against what they claimed were the staples of a corrupt civilization rebuilding and if they didn’t whip it out now the problems of old would repeat themselves. The world is slowly rebuilding and on it's way to replenishing it's population, they suffer setbacks daily but they are trying to build a new world or rebuild the old.
